LOCAL NEWS
The Greater Tzaneen Municipality is pleased to announce the re-opening of all its libraries from the 8th   Monday of March 2021.
Normal library hours will apply – From 9:00 – 16:30 on weekdays at the following libraries:
• Tzaneen;
• Shiluvane
• Letsitele and
• Mulati library.
The Haenertsburg Library will only open on Mondays and Thursdays until further notice.
The Letsitele, Mulati and Haenertsburg libraries will close between 13:00 and 14:00.
Fines will not be levied for the period that the libraries were closed.
Libraries are especially vulnerable to the spreading of the Coronavirus. To reduce the risk to the public and our staff members, until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, only key library services will be delivered, including the checking in-and-out of books, the provision of free Internet/Wi-Fi services, and limited study space.
Extensive risk mitigation plans, in line with government regulations, have been developed for each of the GTM libraries.  Risk mitigation measures are in place at the libraries and notices with details of the measures posted at library entrances.
Library staff and users must always wear masks.
The number of library members checking books in and out; the number of study spaces and the number of library computers for use will be controlled, to ensure safe distancing. Chairs will be available for queuing.
Please note that only two hours will be allowed per person for studying unless there is no queue waiting for study space.
Library computers will be available for study purposes only, for one hour at a time, renewable if there is no queue waiting.
The municipality regrets that the following are not permitted until further notice:
• Pre-school and primary school children;
• group visits;
• photocopying;
• access to newspapers and
• the use of library halls or study rooms.
The mitigation measures are meant to keep library users and staff safe whilst still delivering library services. The understanding of, and cooperation by, library users are highly appreciated.
