Greater Giyani Municipality Gets Unqualified Audit Opinion for the first time

LOCAL NEWS
GIYANI-The leadership collective of Greater Giyani Municipality as led by Mayor Cllr Basani Shibambu politically, and Mr. Mkhacani Chauke administratively, is all smiles following the achievement of the Unqualified Audit Opinion for the 2019/2020 financial year.
This comes after the municipality got Qualified Audit Opinions for two consecutive financial years.
Notably, this is for the first time that GGM had achieved an Unqualified Audit Opinion since its inception.
The ultimate goal is to get a clean audit and indeed we are certain that we are headed there.
What is more exciting is the knowledge that the Unqualified audit report indicates that the municipality’s financial management is stable, this will then have a positive impact on service delivery in that the scarce resource at our disposal is utilized most efficiently and effectively.
Meanwhile, the municipality attributes this achievement to good leadership, effective management, compliance to rules and regulations, support from stakeholders, and exercising strict financial controls.
The municipality is adamant that this is just the beginning of better things to come.
“The road ahead is still long, what we will do is to ensure that we develop a comprehensive audit action plan, to address issues we did not perform well on and come up with better ways to improve such”, said Mayor Cllr Basani Shibambu, applauding the administration led by the Municipal Manager Mr. Mkhacani Chauke for a job well done.
