GIYANI- A grade 09 learner at Nyukani education centre was arrested after the police received information from the members of Mopani crime intelligence about the learner who had a firearm in his possession at school on Friday morning.
Upon police, arrival members interviewed the learner. He finally explained and he finally took the firearm out and confirmed that the firearm belongs to his father.
He further explained to the police that the reason for him to take it from his father’s safe was that some boys were bullying him at school and after school, and he wanted to scare them so that they could not bully him anymore.
A 49-year-old father was summoned to the school after the incident and he confirmed that the firearm belongs to Him and he does not know how his child accessed the safe keys
Both father and child were arrested for Negligent handling of a firearm and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Suspects will appear before Giyani Magistrate court on Monday 06 March 2023 for bail application.
