MAKHUVA VILLAGE-Christmas appeared to have come early for residents of Makhuva village in Giyani as they scrambled for a huge chunk of wild meat from an elephant that was killed.
It was a free for all after the villagers raided the carcass with machetes and axes.
The three elephants were gunned down by Wildlife authorities for terrorising the communities of Mbaula, Makhuva and Phalaubeni.
These elephants were destroying the villagers’ maize corn, and watermelons and putting the lives of villagers at risk.
Nature conservationists were called and they took down the elephants.
Community members of Selwane, Mbaula, Makhuva, Phalaubeni, Nsavulani and Hlomela rushed to the bushes to get their fair share.
