GA-SEKORORO-Residents of Ga Sekororo villages particularly at Shikwane, Matshelapata, Sofaya, Kanana and Mahlomelong, and the surrounding villages are warned to be vigilant when walking around the area, especially during the night because of hippos that are on the loose.
This follows the footprint believed to be of one of the hippos that were seen roaming the villages over the weekend.
The two Hippopotamus were spotted wandering in the area on Friday night at Shikwane village and spotted again in Sofaya village on Saturday night.
According to ward 14, councillor Taola Shayi’s relevant authorities were contacted unfortunately members of the community interfered with the mission to capture until it went to the bushes.
“We requested an animal tracer to assist in tracing this animal because they are very dangerous and pose fear to our residents,” he said
Some of the footprints were seen in one of the homes at Matshelapata village after it damaged their fences.
We urge our residents not to play around with the animal, should they come across it, instead to contact 0766719302 or 0674215252 or ward councillors or police officers
