GA-MOGOBOYA-A concerned resident from Ga-Mogoboya, Greater Tzaneen, is unhappy with taxi operators who continue to fill their minibus taxis to the brim when travelling from Tlhabine to Maake Plaza.

Anonymous averred that he commutes from his village every morning via the R36 route to Maake Plaza. What is concerning for Anonymous is that he usually boards a 15-seater taxi that miraculously loads an estimate of 30 passengers with seven people at most on one seat.

“My community is suffering. We are forced to board these overloaded taxis that most often are the cause of accidents. When we complain, you are told all sorts of hogwash and stopped from boarding any taxi. We keep quiet because we are fearful of the taxi drivers. Those people are bullies. We seriously need an intervention “, an anonymous said.

It is said that this problem is continuing unabated and commuters are scared to voice out their dissatisfaction for fear of being victimized.

A taxi operator in the area was contacted but referred this publication to the association and refused to comment on these allegations.

An effort to contact the association was unsuccessful as the number provided went straight to voicemail.
