Funeral Service for four Children lost lives when their house was gutted by fire underway at Calais Stadium

TZANEEN-Calais Stadium in Ward 13 of Maruleng Municipality is in a somber setting for the funeral service of the four Shiluvane children who tragically lost their lives when their house was gutted by fire on Friday, 12 July 2024.

The service saw a significant turnout from the community and various dignitaries. MEC for Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo, Violet Mathye, was present to offer her condolences and support to the grieving family. Kgoši Matshengoane Sekororo and Mayor Tsheko Musolwa, along with members of their respective councils, were also in attendance, underscoring the importance of this heartbreaking event to the region’s leadership.

In addition to the officials, representatives from various organs of civil society converged at Calais Stadium to pay their last respects to the children, demonstrating the widespread impact of this tragedy on the community.

Learners and educators from Thapola-A-Nkona Primary, where the children were studying, attended the service to honor their classmates and students. Their presence highlighted the profound loss felt within the educational community.

As the community gathered to mourn, the collective grief was palpable, but so was the shared commitment to support the affected family and work together to prevent such tragedies in the future.
