BOLOBEDU – A 23-year-old man who had been on the police’s wanted list for over a year in connection with a domestic violence case has been arrested in Jamela Village, Bolobedu.
The suspect was wanted for an incident reported in February 2024, involving the pointing of a firearm during a domestic dispute. According to Limpopo SAPS, his arrest on Tuesday, 6 May 2025, at around 09:00, came after officers received actionable intelligence about his whereabouts.
A team made up of the Mopani Tracking Team, Highway Patrol, and Bolobedu Detectives launched a successful operation and apprehended the suspect without resistance.
A follow-up investigation led police to the suspect’s home in Shotong Village, where a firearm was found hidden inside the house. The suspect could not provide a valid license for the weapon and was immediately charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 7 May 2025.
This arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by Limpopo police to curb gun-related crime, enforce laws around illegal firearms, and address gender-based violence in rural areas like Bolobedu.
