RELELA VILLAGE – Samuel Maritus Malatji (21) affectionately known as Lil Merry is a Disco and amadamara Bolobedu local singer who took the music industry by storm with his single hits ” Ke ngwana wa Motho and Melomo ya batho “.
” I grew up listening to the late Peta Teanet and Brenda Fassie’s music, I started to identify myself as a musician at a young age, ” The Ngwana wa Motho singer said.
Lil merry studied Mechanical engineering with Letaba Tvet College Maake Campus until N3. Due to unemployment, he realized his music career under the notorious Bolobedu Group “Bad Company ” under the commandership of General Manizo. Where they released several songs such as “Welcome back Manizo “
He then separated from the Bad company group after a fallout with the senioritis of the group and went solo with his music career. Lil Merry worked with the likes of Omee Otis, Double trouble, Dj Lexxyphonic, and others.
It was through his music that he was able to sharpen his profile as an artist and rehabilitate himself from hooliganism. ” I make sure that every song that I release bear meaning especially to all the youth,” he said.
He can’t rule out the possibilities of collaborating with Bad Company shortly to produce more inspirational songs, however, that would not suggest they are friends again. “General Manizo and I are cool and there is no longer hostility between us anymore ” Lil Merry added.
“However, as of now am focusing more on improving my brand under Given events management ( my manager)” he said.
He is currently working on a hit single in collaboration with Obzy Junior and DJ Lexxyphonic titled “Ba ka re lwesa ” he is confident that the song will keep his fans on their dancing shoes during this Festive.
