POLOKWANE-Tshilidzi Maraga, the former chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo, has announced her resignation from the party, citing dissatisfaction with the organization’s leadership.
Maraga revealed that she decided to join the Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party after feeling sidelined and no longer valued by the EFF.
Maraga stated that her removal as provincial chairperson was based on accusations of underperformance, a claim she strongly denies.
According to her, this decision was made before the EFF’s upcoming elective provincial conference.
“I did not underperform. Before the May general elections, the EFF in Limpopo had seven Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs), and after the elections, we increased that number to nine MPLs,” Maraga emphasized.
She further criticized the current EFF provincial leadership, stating that the new chairperson was handpicked and appointed after just one year in the party, which she argues violates the organization’s constitution.
Maraga’s move to the Umkhonto we Sizwe party marks a significant shift in Limpopo’s political landscape as the region prepares for upcoming elections. Her departure has raised questions about the internal dynamics within the EFF in
Limpopo, particularly regarding leadership succession and organizational structure.
