GA-SEKGOPO-The police in Modjadjiskloof, Greater Letaba, are investigating a case of rape following the rape of a five months pregnant woman over the past weekend.

It is reported that the suspect ambushed the victim at around 21H00 while she was walking from her boyfriend’s house and ordered her not to make noise and stabbed her with a knife on the thigh.

The suspect is said to have proceeded with the heinous crime even when the victim started bleeding, raped her without using a condom and fled into the night.

Modjadjikloof police station communication officer Constable Eliot Mabulane said that they cannot continue as normal when women are afraid to go anywhere they want out of fear of being victimized.

“We call upon community leaders and the members of communities, to join hands and help us fight Gender Based Violence. We also call upon men to unite and teach each other about human rights and dignity in society”, he said.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts can contact 08600 10 111, MySAPS App or go to their nearest police station.
