TICKYLINE-A joint operation of various Police units, focusing on suspects in possession of unlicensed firearms resulted in the arrest of Five Lesotho Nationals African Males suspects, aged between 23 and 35 on Tuesday, 20 June 2023 at one of the Local petrol stations in Maake area.
Police said the team comprising of Tzaneen Crime Intelligence, Mopani Tracing team, Flying squad, Tactical Response Team and TTT received a tip-off from organized crime about the suspects in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition heading to Mpumalanga province.
The police followed the information and pounced on five suspects at a local filling station and searched the vehicle.
During the arrest 150 live ammunition of 357 magnums, 16 live ammunition of Z88, CZ 75 three 9mm Pistol, two hand radios and pump action shotgun cabin type were confiscated.
The Police opened a case of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has Commended members for the job well done in arresting the suspects and recovering the firearms.
The suspects will appear before Naphuno Magistrate’s Court soon.
