Fire Breaks Out at Olifants Rest Camp in Kruger National Park

A fire broke out this evening at Olifants Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park, causing alarm among visitors and staff.

The fire allegedly started due to an unattended braai near a bungalow within the camp.

Earlier reports indicated that a bungalow at Satara Rest Camp had also caught fire for the same reason.

Quick action by the camp’s firefighting team helped extinguish the blaze, resulting in minimal damage to the structure and the occupants’ personal belongings.

Shortly after the incident at Satara, Olifants Rest Camp reported similar incidents where three units caught fire. SAMParlks Rangers from both Satara and Olifants, along with reinforcements from other ranger posts, are currently working to bring the fires under control.
