GIYANI-A murder suspect Rifilwe Nikiwe Masondo (25) from Siyandhani Village, was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment at Thohoyandou High Court on Thursday, June 09.
The sentence followed after the incident that took place on 18 September 2018 at Giyani stadium during the Fill up Giyani Music festival.
It is alleged that at about 03h00am a well-known artist Benny Mayengani was busy performing at the stage when supporters in the field began with their disruption behaviour.
As a result, a male victim was stabbed to death. The deceased who was 25 – years-old at that time was identified as Ngobeni Victor Hoxani of Mavalani Village.
All stakeholders were summoned to the scene of crime and the deceased was certified dead by EMS.
The police commenced with their investigation and Case docket of Murder was assigned to Warrant Officer Khosa MJ,who works is attached at Giyani Detectives attached.
He worked tirelessly and finally arrested the suspect who was positively linked to this this case.
The Suspect was detained and was denied bail until he was found guilty for Murder and He was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment.
