RITA : A pedestrian was knocked down and killed by a speeding vehicle on the notorious R36 road near Poo Ke Nna Filling Station in Rita village under Greater Tzaneen.
The accident took place just after 7 pm on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to Tzaneen Voice off – the – record say the deceased was crossing the road when a speeding vehicle overtook the first car and crashed into the victim who was standing on a barrier line in the middle of the road.
The young woman was certified dead by Forensic pathologists on the scene while the driver of the vehicle fled immediately after the crash.
The deceased was a student at Maake TVET College in Tickeyline and is originally from Seshego in Polokwane.
The identity of the deceased is known by Tzaneen Voice, however, it will remain withheld from the public until the process of informing her family is complete.
