MOGAPENG- A family of 21 in Mogapeng is pleading with the general public and good Samaritans to assist them with the most basic of services as they spend each day of their lives in a state of extreme poverty.
The Sedie family, located in a rural area of Mogapeng in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality have been living in this unfavourable state for years.
In the family, no one is employed, which makes it difficult to make ends meet. They highlighted that the problems started when the breadwinner of the family passed on.
Speaking to Tzaneen Voice, The eldest in the family, Mohlago Sedie ( 43) said that they have been living in these unfavourable conditions for years and are now starting to fear for their lives as the three rooms house they are living in can fall in at any given time.
“We are living in fear. The walls have cracks and the roof is not strong at all, we are scared that if it can rain or we experience strong winds, we might find ourselves in a state of disaster,” she said.
Mohlago said a single room accommodates seven people each night, some even go to relatives just to find a comfortable room to sleep in.
The Sedie family is pleading for any kind of help from the public and good Samaritans.
“We are not at liberty to choose what people can help us with, at this point, we are seeking for anything that can help us, we need food, we need clothes, we need building material, with regard to RDP house we were promised it ages ago but nothing happened, our house can fall in at any time and that can injure or kill us” she pleaded.
Mohlago said what she would be grateful for is a job, as it would help ease the difficulties they are facing at home.
“I’m the oldest in the family, so I need a job, it could be any kind of a job, as long as I will be able to make an income and help with the situation at home,” Mohlago concluded. #Tzaneenvoice
