Family announce the funeral details of Giyani’s beloved community builder Khanyisa Mabunda

GIYANI-The family of Khanyisa Mabunda, a beloved community builder and dedicated employee of the Giyani Municipality, has announced that her burial service will be held on Saturday, June 15, at Kheyi Village. Mabunda passed away on June 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of philanthropy and community service.

Kheyi Village, located just outside Giyani near the Shikhumba filling station, will host the final farewell for Mabunda, whose contributions have profoundly impacted the local community. Known for her tireless efforts to support and uplift those around her, Mabunda’s passing is a significant loss to many.

As a philanthropist and community builder, Khanyisa Mabunda was deeply involved in various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of young girls and the broader community. She was a member of the African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) and was particularly passionate about the future of young girls, organizing the Miss Giyani Beauty Pageant to inspire and empower them.

Her generosity extended to schools and needy families throughout the area. Mabunda regularly donated sanitary towels and uniforms to schools, ensuring that young students had the necessities they needed to succeed. She also provided groceries and pre-used clothes to families in need, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to helping others.

A memorial service for Mabunda held today, Thursday, June 13, at 12:00 PM in the Giyani Community Hall. The service offered friends, family, and community members a chance to pay their respects and celebrate her life.

Professionally, Mabunda was a licensing officer at Greater Giyani Municipality and served as an environmental awareness officer at Ndalo Yethu, a unit of the Department of Environmental Affairs. Her educational journey included completing Grade 12 at Gija-Ngove High School, followed by studies at Lyceum College, Capricorn TVET College, and Damelin Correspondence College.

Khanyisa Mabunda’s life and work have left an indelible mark on the Giyani community. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her and the many lives she touched.
