MOTSINONI VILLAGE-The employees who are employed as labourers by Martmol trading constructing street pavements in Motsinoni village, Greater Letaba, have downed tools today.

The 32  employees have gathered outside the Martmol headquarters, in Deer park, Greater Tzaneen.

According to the employees, they started working on the 1-year project in October 2022 and have never received their salaries on time. Thus, muscle flexes with the employer every month to get paid.

“We have been having this issue since we started working here. Our contracts stipulate that we will receive salaries every month end on the 28th but it has not been the case. When we enquire about this, they tell us that they don’t have a budget”, an anonymous said.

The labourers have expressed anger and frustration over the lack of accountability from the management of the project as a result.

“There is no communication from the project manager or the site manager whatsoever. That is the most frustrating part”, anonymous added.

The publication contacted the headquarters, but, to no avail. Benny Mamabolo, the site manager, said that the issue must be sorted out by HR and that he was in no position to divulge more details regarding it.
