BLOODRIVER- The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo are pulling out all the stops to retain Polokwane ward 10 and win Blouberg ward 17 in the coming by-elections.
The ward 10 seat became vacant in the Polokwane Municipality following the death of a 42-year-old EFF ward councillor Ramokone Doris Photo in October 22.
In a bid to strengthen its contest in the Polokwane ward 10 by-election, the EFF led by its newly elected provincial chairperson Tshilidzi Maraga, embarked in the campaigns of handing out food parcels and blankets to the residents of Blood-river under ward 10 outside Polokwane.
In campaigning to take over another ward by-election, the party has handed over a tractor and food parcels to the residents of Ga-Kiba ahead of Blouberg ward 17 by-elections.
The EFF Provincial Chairperson Tshilidzi Maraga said: “this is the confirmation that we have a long-standing commitment of serving our residents. This is an indication that if the EFF is given a chance to govern, this is what it intends to do”.
The party is courting with Jacob Seshoka to retain the ward.
The ANC and ActionSA have also entered the ward 10 by-election fray to claim the vacant Polokwane ward seat.
While the ANC led by its NEC 2nd Deputy Secretary General Maropeng Ramokgopa and Peter Mokaba Regional Chairperson and Polokwane Municipality mayor John Mpe embarked in a series of activities and also handed out food parcels to the residents.
Both the Polokwane ward 10 and Blouberg ward 17 by-elections are set to square-off on the 25 January 2023.
