TZANEEN- The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo has laid criminal charges against Tzaneen’s Ben Voster school grade 9 learner for his racist remarks.

The party confirmed that its leadership has since opened a criminal case against Erhard Foster for his racial utterance towards a social media content creator Sonwabile at Tzaneen Police.

The pupil labelled Sonwabile who was wearing a red hat during a live broadcast, an EFF k***r and then giggled and left the stream on Tuesday night.

The video sparked racial tensions across social media platforms and EFF members in Mopani marched to the Hoerskool Ben Voster on Wednesday to demand the dismissal of the pupil.

The school SGB Chairperson Eddie Voster said “The pupil’s behaviour does not reflect the school’s values and culture and the learner has shown remorse and realises his behaviour was unacceptable”.

Tzaneen Police communication officer Sergeant Maurice Nkwashu has confirmed that EFF has opened a criminal case against the minor and the case docket is still under investigation.
