MAKAVELE -A taxi accident on the R529 road between Constation and the 4×4 area near Makavele has left one person injured after the vehicle collided with a hippo on Thursday evening.
According to eyewitness reports, the taxi was traveling along the route when the hippo unexpectedly crossed the road, resulting in the collision.
Fortunately, no passengers were involved, and the driver was the only one injured in the incident.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the driver was treated for minor injuries before being transported to a nearby medical facility. The hippo’s condition is currently not known.
Local authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially when traveling at night, as wildlife frequently crosses roads in the area, increasing the risk of accidents.
