Disgruntled community demands dissolution of the Royal council

PHALABORWA-Lulekani Magistrate court was a hive of activities on Tuesday morning when the community of Selwane arrived in five taxis chanting for the dissolution of the council and removal of Sam Malatji the Special  Advisor of the late chief Tebogo Malatji of Ba-Phalaborwa baga Selwane.

The court was postponed to 16 November 2023 for further hearing as the police have applied for section 205 of the constitution to get access and authorisation to investigate the bank accounts of Sam Malatji as the community is accusing him of embezzling funds and forgery of documents.

Responding to the accusation Sam Malatji said that he has nothing to hide.

“I will hand over his bank accounts to the state for further scrutiny,” he said

Meanwhile, English Mokgalaka the leader of the community the community demands that the Selwane  Royal Council be dissolved as it has for a long time failed to suspend Sam Malatji because they were protecting him as their family member despite evidence they have presented to them the maladministration and corruption of Sam Malatji but they failed to suspend him.

“It is the reason they decided to lock the gates of royal council offices”

He further said sit they took the intervention by the Limpopo Police Commissioner to push the Lulelani Police to investigate the cases they opened as they were dragging their feet.
