Court proceedings underway for Moime village teen set to drop sexual assault charges against grandfather in Lenyenye

LENYENYE: A 14-year-old girl from Moime village under Greater Tzaneen is today set to drop sexual assault charges against her grandfather.

This after she was allegedly sexually violated by her 53-year-old grandfather after he touched her private parts.

The incident took place at their homestead in Moime on October 17th 2022.

However, there has been a twist in the case as the teenager has made her intentions to the police that she wishes to withdraw the charges.

This publication has seen an affidavit that is said to be written by the victim which suggests that she wants the charges against her grandfather to be dropped

In the affidavit, the teenager claims that she was “emotional” when she laid the charges and “now understands that her grandfather only wanted her to stay away from boys.”

The case will be heard before Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court today.
