POLOKWANE-Corrie Pretorius has been granted R20 000 bail by the Limpopo High Court in Polokwane today
Pretorius is facing charges related to the assault of a 16-year-old boy following an argument at a local fast food outlet in Groblersdal on June 15th.
The bail conditions require the 50 – year old to report to the Marble Hall Police Station every fortnight and should hand over his passport to the investigating officer.
Pretorius was denied bail by the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court in June.
The court ruled that the 49-year-old might be killed if he was released on bail.
The matter was then postponed to 6 September for Pretorius to approach the High Court in a bid to be released on bail.
However, the National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says the matter has now been postponed to Friday for him to secure a new legal representative.
“The case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and the pointing of a firearm against Corrie Pretorius was due in Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court. However, Pretorius appeared without his attorney as a result the matter was postponed to until 9 September 2022 for a new legal representative. Corrie is remanded in custody.”
The case is expected to resume on Friday after his previous lawyer failed to attend court on Tuesday.
