COSATU Limpopo to march over electricity crisis and high cost of living

POLOKWANE- The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) in Limpopo plans a provincial protest march against the electricity crisis and the ‘looming’ high cost of living in Polokwane.

Cosatu will assemble at SABC Park at 09h00 in Polokwane on Friday,05 August to march to the Provincial treasury, office of the premier, Stan Mathabatha and then proceed to the Department of Minerals, Energy and Eskom to hand over their memorandum.

Amongst other demands the federation will be marching against are, the high unemployment, end to Neoliberal austerity measures and plight of hunger and poverty in the province.

The federation will be looking to be joined by the public and civil organization on their protest march in the Polokwane CBD.

Last week, Azanian People’s Organisation (AZAPO) had a sit-in at CoGHSTA offices protesting against high unemployment, petrol & food prices and corruption.

While the Defenders of the People (DOP) embarked on another march protest against the hiring of foreigners and trading permits of hawkers in the city.
