Cooperatives to benefit from process if brewing Marula beer and juice in Phalaborwa

PHALABORWA-In support of the Mukumbi (Marula) Industries, the Marula Festival cooperatives have started the process of brewing the Marula in preparation for the Marula  Festival taking place from 12 to 22  April in Phalaborwa.

Callies Matlala the spokesperson of MEC Rodgers Monama of the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism says this is part of the programme to empower local communities so that they can leverage these economic opportunities created by the Marula festival.

It is a continuous process until the last day of the event.

This particular process in a way demonstrates that the Limpopo Marula Festival is not only about music and dance (arts and culture), but also about economic development and empowerment of businesses in the  Mukumbi Industries.

LEDET is the one that is taking a lead in convening the Marula Festival.

The Marula Festival cooperatives are operating from the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipal Lapa, they started last week Thursday and will finish the brewing of the Marula beer and juice on Wednesday.
