NAMAKGALE- All community members under Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality are invited to gather outside Namakgale Magistrate Court to oppose bail application and support the family of the victim, on Friday, May 13.

The chairperson of Speak-out Phalaborwa, Edmund Mbetse expressed his concern about incidents where vulnerable children are being abused and sexually exploited by older men.

He encouraged residents to come in numbers to show support to the family of the victim and to oppose the bail of a 36-year-old shop owner who allegedly raped a 10- year- old girl. According to the police statement, the shop owner allegedly took advantage of the minor on Sunday at Namakgale Zone B when she was sent to buy airtime at the local shop.

“We call upon the community of Ba-Phalaborwa to join hands in the fight against gender-based violence and femicide,” Mbetse said
