PRAKTISEER: The community of Praktiseer in Burgersfort is up in arms following the death of a patient an hour after she consulted at a clinic.

It is reported that a female known  chronic hypertensive and peptic ulcer patient came to Praktiseer clinic at around 07h30 on Sunday, complaining of a burning sensation in the stomach after she had taken spicey home-cooked food.

Upon arrival at the clinic, she was seen by the clinical nurse practitioner who examined and found that her blood pressure and other vitals were normal.

Limpopo Health Spokesperson Neil Shikwambana says the patient was then given lansolac capsules and Panado tablets for the burning sensation and requested to come for a follow-up consultation days later.

An hour later, she was reported to have collapsed and passed on.

Consequently, the circumstances surrounding her passing have caused distress in the community, and allegations of threats to attack the nursing staff have also emerged.

Police have been called to keep an eye on the staff as they live in constant fear.

The Limpopo Department of Health has called for calm in the community and allows all the investigative processes to unfold so that the real cause of death for the patient can be ascertained.
