Community and Police Unite in Search for Missing 8-Year-Old Boy in Giyani

GIYANI-A major search operation is underway in Giyani for an 8-year-old boy, Rifumo Chabalala, who has been missing since Monday, June 3, 2024. Rifumo, a Grade 2 learner at Khakhala Primary School, left home to play football with friends and has not returned.

Concerned community members and authorities have come together in an urgent effort to find Rifumo. The search team includes members from Muyexe SAPS, Giyani SAPS, the Community Policing Forum, and local residents, all working tirelessly to locate the missing child.

The search operation has mobilized all relevant stakeholders, who have been summoned to assist in tracing Rifumo. Despite their best efforts, including following footprints that initially seemed promising, there has been no successful breakthrough so far.

The disappearance of Rifumo has sent shockwaves through the Giyani community, prompting a large turnout of volunteers and concerned citizens joining the search. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Rifumo’s whereabouts to come forward immediately.

Captain Makhubela of the Muyexe SAPS expressed the urgency and commitment of the search effort, stating, “We are doing everything in our power to find Rifumo.

The community’s involvement has been invaluable, and we will continue to search tirelessly until he is found.”

The community is advised to remain vigilant and report any sightings or relevant information to the Giyani SAPS. The police and community are hopeful that their combined efforts will lead to Rifumo’s safe return.
