GIYANI-The police in Giyani have opened a case of the inquest, after a church member drowned on Saturday, January 28.
The drowning happens at Nsami dam next to Makosha Village under Giyani municipality.
According to Giyani Police Communications officer Sergeant Ridgewell Rikhotso, the victim was at the said dam for baptism, after being baptised the victim told the pastor and the other members of the church that he wanted to cross the dam while swimming.
“The victim then went inside the water where he failed to swim and was drowned”
“The pastor and other church members went to the police to report the matter today after they tried to retrieve the body from the water and failed,” Sgt Rikhotso said
Search and rescue teams were summoned and they managed to retrieve the body from the dam. The deceased was identified as *Nabohth Baloyi* originally from Maputo but he was currently staying at Risinga village
All stakeholders were summoned to the scene of the crime including Ems who certified the deceased dead.
