Case against man who set girlfriend and son alight at Dan village postponed

NKOWANKOWA: The Ritavi Magistrate’s Court has postponed the case against alleged arsonist, Lungani Mhlongo to the 24th of March.

The suspect appeared before the said on Thursday morning, facing multiple charges including murder and arson.

Mhlongo shocked the community of Dan village when he allegedly locked his girlfriend Hanipe Hope Nkuna ( 23 ) and her 18 – month old baby, Muhluri Nkuna and set them alight in September last year.

The community of Dan has called on the courts to fasttrack the case and justice be served to the family of Nkuna.

“We are extremely disappointed with how the court has handled this matter, said one community member, who attended the court proceedings on Thursday.

“Our daughter was murdered five months ago, however we have only seen postponements after postponements in this case,” she said.
