POLOKWANE-Today, Capitec Bank experienced a major service disruption that left its entire customer base of 22 million individuals unable to access banking services.

This unexpected outage has sparked frustration and inconvenience among customers, underscoring the significant impact on their daily financial transactions and operations.

In a statement, Capitec acknowledged the disruption: “We are experiencing nationwide service issues including Card. We’re working hard to resolve this. We apologise for any inconvenience.”

The outage has caused widespread discontent, with many customers turning to social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter) to voice their frustration and disappointment. Complaints ranged from the inability to make payments and withdrawals to issues with online banking and mobile app functionality.

The disruption has not only affected individual customers but also businesses that rely on Capitec’s services for their daily operations. Many users have called for the bank to improve its infrastructure and ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
