Bus Operator Threatens to Suspends Service In Medingen Over Damaged Road

KGAPANE-Molate Bus Service (MBS) urged the authorities to repair the Medingen D170 road in the Greater Letaba Municipality that has been in a state of disrepair or else they will stop operating in the area.

MBS’s Director Jerry Mohale said they have been servicing Meidingen and other areas since donkey years but they incurring heavy loss by operating on the damaged road.The Bus operator has been transporting commuters including school children and workers in this area for so many years

“We had unfortunately decided to stop operation in the area because the roads have become costly.

Regrettably, our people will suffer because the roads are not maintained  and that costs us.” He mentioned.

He further said that it is understood that the D170 leading to Meidingen is a provincial road and the matter was referred to the department of public works.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of public works , Roads and infrastructure Joel Seabi indicated that the road and many others in the district are in the process fixed.

Mohale said  “If the department does not deliver on their promise. We will continue with the termination as planned. We hope the subcontractors start working soon.” Mohale concluded.

Medingen residents tried everything possible to engage the authority regarding the road.

Masilo Kgatle who is been very vocal about the lack of development in the area said he is not surprised to hear that MBS is considering stopping services in the area. Medingen and other surrounding area have been badly affected by the heavy rain.
