Burnt Body Found in Phalaborwa Identified as Missing Woman from Biko in Lulekani

Phalaborwa – The burnt body discovered by Phalaborwa police in the industrial area on June 22, 2024, has been identified as Salome Shiburi, a 25-year-old woman from Biko in Lulekani.

Salome’s family confirmed her identity after her sister, Ponisile Shiburi, reported her missing on June 25. Salome left home on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at approximately 21:00, leaving her phone behind and not informing anyone of her whereabouts. Since that night, she had not returned home, leading to growing concern from her family and community.

The Phalaborwa Police are actively seeking anyone with information that could assist in their investigation and lead to the apprehension of the suspects involved in Salome’s tragic death. Those with information are urged to contact the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Refiloe Mashale, at 082 319 9739.
