MAKABA VILLAGE – Bolobedu residents are breathing a collective sigh of relief after the capture of an alleged rapist who had been wanted by police for sexually assaulting a minor at Madibeng village in Bolobedu.

The man, who had reportedly been on the run, was accused of terrorizing the community. Rumors had spread that the enraged residents were ready to take matters into their own hands, with many calling for justice.

However, the suspect’s luck ran out today when he was cornered and attacked by community members while working at a road construction site near makalangake in Makaba village. Witnesses reported that tensions flared quickly as residents recognized him and took action.

Police were swiftly alerted to the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody. He is now expected to face charges in connection with raping a minor.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, unrest erupted in Madibeng village as community members protested after the minor’s assault. Residents took to the streets, blocking the main road and demanding the suspect’s immediate arrest, expressing frustration at what they perceived as a slow response by the authorities.

The protests were a reflection of the deep outrage and call for justice, as the community rallied around the victim and insisted on accountability.

As the suspect is now in police custody, community members hope justice will be served, and that peace can return to the area after this traumatic event.
