MOLEKETLA- The 48-year-old man from Moleketla village in Bolobedu South, feels more powerful and confident after he spent 7 days of circumcision rite at the initiation school (Komeng).
Matome ‘Azapo’ Mahasha 48, was the oldest initiate amongst the 1700 initiates who graduated from Modika ‘ Van rooi’ initiation school on Friday,15 at Block 08.
The jubilant ‘Azapo’ sang and danced with excitement while painted himself in blood-red ochre during their homecoming ceremony on Saturday, July 16.
The 48-year-old said he never felt embarrassed when initiating with young men who were way less than him in terms of age and further said he has boosted his manhood for undergoing the initiation school.
” I feel happy that now I am a real man and since I am a leader, I will now lead with boldness without my prestige as a man being questioned and will also attend local traditional councils without being asked for mountain school experience.
It was not easy for me emotionally to be labelled ‘leshoboro’ by women” Azapo said.
Modika ‘Van rooi’ initiation school attracted 1700 initiates both young and old throughout Mopani district and beyond.
The initiation school Principal, Mr Modika told the publication that since he started hosting initiation schools, he has never had such a large number of initiates.
He further showed his gratitude to the parents for trusting him with their children and happy that he hosted a death and Injury-free initiation.
Mokwakwaila SAPS Media Liaison Officer Sgt Tinyiko Manganye said the initiation school was compliant with the laws and further showered Modika with praise for hosting a successful initiation school.
