Bolobedu hitchhiker robbed in George’s Valley

TZANEEN-A case of robbery with a firearm was registered under Tzaneen SAPS after a man from Bolobedu was robbed while hitchhiking in George’s Valley outside on Tzaneen on Monday, May 15.

According to Tzaneen Police Station Communications officer Sgt Maurice Nkhwashu, the 30-year-old victim was hitchhiking at the Tzaneen R71 road hiking spot towards Polokwane when a charcoal Ford Figo with two male occupants offered him a lift to Polokwane.

A certain lady who was standing next to him at the hiking spot also boarded the car.

Whilst on the way the driver deviated from the R71 and turned to the gravel road at George’s valley blue gum trees saying he is going to collect avocados from someone at the farms.

Whilst still on the gravel road the lady that also pretended to be hitchhiking with the unsuspecting victim took out a firearm and pointed it at the hitchhiker’s head the males searched him and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash, a cellphone and bank and bank cards.

The estimated value of all robbed items is valued at R3470-00 (three thousand four hundred and seventy rands).
