MOLEKETLA- The budding Tshwane Gospel choir soulful singer Thabiso Thlaola, born Thabiso Mokgwathi has set himself as a versatile artist to look out for, with his voice being likened to that of Gospel legend Sechaba Bali.
Performing in front of the country’s President during his inauguration and also in front of the Minister in the Presidency, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma during the Dr Merriam Makeba inaugural memorial lecture, its the stuff that dreams are made of and Thlaola is living that dream.
The 26-year-old Bolobedu-born gospel contemporary muso broke into the music scene with a single hit titled “Thlaola”, which crowned him with the 2022 Tshwane Gospel Choir best new-comer award.
“When I first pitched ‘Thlaola’ single to my colleagues they found it funny because It was sang in khelobedu, however the choir’s management loved it outright , while theirs were returned back to be redone” he said.
Thlaola says his upcoming single titled “Ke bona Modimo “ which is recorded with Ishmo Records, it’s a testimony that God has lifted him up from life’s hardships.
“Life wasn’t easy for me after losing my mother, grandmother and uncle in a short space of time, so I almost lost myself but God lifted me up and refined my dreams ” the gospel sensation said.
He says frequenting on national TV and performing in front of the renowned dignitaries, including the country’s President Ramaphosa, it’s a dream he always wished to live for.
Thlaola was part of the local artists who were recently invited by the Greater Tzaneen Municipality to share wisdom with the likes of Fifi Cooper, Israel Matseke-Zulu and other notable entertainment stars.
Thlaola advised that Limpopo artists must own their music and should not only focus on music for a living.
