Body of drowned 17-year-old boy found in Lepelle River

BURGERSFORT: The body of a 17-year-old teenager who drowned at Lepelle/ Olifantsriver has been found.

The lifeless body of Gift Mitchell was discovered this afternoon during a search operation by the police divers and the community.

The deceased, who is a matric learner from Leagathoko Secondary School drowned in Penge in Sekhukhune East on Thursday afternoon.

It is alleged that he opted against attending extra lessons with his classmates and went swimming in the Olifants River with his friends.

The teachers were notified about the accident by learners who witnessed the drowning.

The search for the body by Police divers commenced on Thursday night and his lifeless body was found on Saturday afternoon.
