GIYANI- The grisly scene of a man found hanging from a tree at Nkurhi Sadoma village in GIyani has left residents reeling.
It is alleged that the police were summoned to the scene of crime at Nkurhi Sadoma village.This follows after the family members found the lifeless body of elderly man hanging with a rope under the branch of the tree.
The pensioner, aged 77 was found on Wednesday morning.
Communication Officer Sgt Ridgewell Rikhotso, “At around 6 am, a passerby saw the body of a man hanging from a tree and proceeded to alert the police of this shocking discovery.”
He added that when the police arrived, they alerted the Emergency Management Services (EMS) of the situation and when the emergency services arrived, they certified the man dead on the scene.
The deceased was identified as Masenyani Johannes Maluleke.
The police confirmed that an inquest was opened and they were still investigating.
Sgt Rikhotso said the body was handed over to the police for further investigation.
