POLOKWANE- The health Department in Limpopo distances itself from imposters roaming around communities drawing blood samples, claiming to be researchers of COVID-19 from their department. The department released a statement on January 25, condemning these nefarious activities, and warns community members to be on the lookout for these imposter’s and report them to the police as soon as they spot them.
According to the statement, any researcher claiming to be from the department or conducting research will only do this through the proper established channels, which are, community structures such as local councilors, ward committee members, traditional leaders, local health care workers, so on, and so forth.
The statement further mentioned that the department is currently not running any such program and no one has been mandated to carry out the research which will ultimately endanger the lives of people.
