PHALABORWA-Sorrow has engulfed the Phalaborwa municipality following the death of one of its political leaders.
Cllr Denise Bayana died on Friday, May 12 after she was involved in a car accident. This was confirmed by Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality Mayor, Cllr Merriam Malatji in a statement.
Mayor, Malatji has expressed shock and devastation after the sudden passing of Cllr Bayana, stating that it is sad and difficult to accept.
Mayor described Cllr Bayana as a disciplined, selfless and hard-working councillor who was dedicated to her work.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bayana family, friends, colleagues and the community at large during this difficult time”, Mayor said.
Cllr Denise Bayana was a former HOD/ Head of Department ( African Language) at Ntshuxeko High School in Majeje for more than two decades before she joined Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality as a PR Councillor after the 2016 local government elections.
At the time of her passing, she was responsible for the Department of Planning and Development in Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality.
The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 18 at Lulekani Community Hall at 13H00.
While the Funeral Service will be this Saturday 20 May 2023 Impala Park Hall.
