The Batlhabine Foundation in Ga-Mogoboya outside Tzaneen is of the view that the distribution of food parcels to destitute families should continue, as most families find it difficult to survive the impact that Covid-19 has had on their livelihoods.

The organization has dedicated R64 000, which they received from their sister organization in Cape Town, towards providing food parcels to poor families in the Tzaneen area.

Director of the foundation, Mashile Phalane says although the economy was recently opened under alert 2 of the lockdown, most people lost their jobs in the past months and cannot provide for their families anymore.

Phalane says in their food distributions they mostly target single-headed families, child-headed families and the elderly as they are the ones who were mostly affected.

He says more than 300 families have benefited from this programme.
