Ba-Phalaborwa New Year’s babies Receives Gifts 

BA-PHALABORWA- Children are a gift from God and it is believed that they are future leaders. On that note, Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality led by the Mayor, Cllr Merriam Malatji in partnership with Bora Mining Services led by Enock Mathebula handed over new born babies essentials to the first 10 new born babies of 2021 this morning, Friday, January 1.
At the time of the handover, there were two babies born, a male and a female in the early hours of the new year. Due to Alert Level 3 regulations, the handover took place at the Hospital Gate with the hospital’s management and minimum delegation.
Speaking during the handover, the Mayor, said that the babies donation initiative is done every year, even though this year has brought a new normal life. “We felt it was important to keep celebrating the good in our community, hence we are here to welcome the arrival of new and precious lives.” she said.
She congratulated the new parents citing that children are a gift and once they are in your care, you have a lifetime responsibility to look out for their best interests. “Let us do so, this is particularly important at this very tender age. We just came from 16 days of activism, a reminder to us that we must protect our children from all types of abuse at all times,” she mentioned.
She added that: “Let us also appreciate the work at the hands of our healthcare workers. The frontliners, putting their lives at risk on a daily basis dealing with Covid-19 challenges but also dealing with many other ailments in our community including the safe arrival of our little ones. Rea leboga, please keep us the good work”.
The Mayor also thanked and appreciated Bora Mining Services for their unwavering support. “Your consistent support for this community goes far beyond words. This year alone you have supported so many of our initiatives and what that says is that you are invested in this community. You want what is best for us and you are ready to be part of the solution. We thank you,” she concluded.
“As we finish off the festive season let us listen to the clarion call from the president. Let us stay at home when possible, wear our masks and sanitise and wash our hands regularly. Covid-19 is a part of us now and we have to ensure that we care for ourselves and those around us by adhering to regulations. We dont want to pay with any more lives”the Mayor advised.
On behalf of Bora Mining Services, Tsakani Mathebula, the Public relations officer extended gratitude to the leadership of Ba- Phalaborwa Municipality and commended them on the ongoing partnership with the company. “We will always support this initiative for as long as the company is still in existence. We believe in giving back to the community, caring and supporting our people is one of our core values. We wish all the mothers and new born babies all the best,” she stated.
She further commended the health workers and encouraged them to continue serving the country while observing the Covid-19 protocol.
