PHALABORWA.- Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality’s independent councillor Sylvester Mathrbula has died at the age of 46.
Mathebula passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, March 22.
During the memorial service held at Nyakelang Bohlabela Church in Ga-Selwane on Thursday, the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality’s late independent councillor Sylvester Mathebula was described as a loyal and hardworking servant of the people.
Democratic Alliance councillor Sybrandt de Beer described Mathebula as one of the councilor who was dedicated to serving the people of Phalaborwa.
“Condolences to his family. Mathebula was new to the council but had great potential” he said
Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality Mayor said Councilor Mathebula was a selfless public servant who was energetic and not shy to ask questions on behalf of the community during municipal council meetings.
Mayor Malatji hailed Cllr Mathebula as a selfless public servant who was dedicated to serving the community of Ba-Phalaborwa.
“Cllr Mathebula was energetic and not shy to ask questions on behalf of the community during municipal council meetings”, she said.
Cllr Sylvester Mathebula will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 1.
