POLOKWANE-Members of the Ba-Phalaborwa Concerned Group are celebrating a historic victory following a ruling by the Polokwane High Court. The court’s decision, delivered in favor of the Concerned Group, mandates the immediate vacation of the offices in Phalaborwa by the current leadership of the Ba-Phalaborwa Community Forum

The group led by David Siisa took the Bapjalaborea Community Forum and Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality to the High Court in Polokwane on Tuesday, following challenges of accessing employment and leadership opportunities in Phalaborwa mines.

The concerned group is accusing the forum leaders of selling jobs to people from outside Phalaborwa and outsourcing businesses in the local mines for their own benefit.

The concerned group’s representative Cliff Nkuna says they brought the matter to court because the BCF leaders’ terms lapsed in November last year, and they have since asked the municipality to mediate in the election of new representatives.

Nkuna says to date, the municipality has not convened the election and as a result BCF leaders have remained in office, selling jobs.
