THOHOYANDOU: An ATM at the Caltex garage in Lwamondo Tshifulanani was bombed last night, leaving residents shaken but unharmed.

The attack took place in the early hours of Tuesday, 19 November, as explosions and gunfire echoed through the area for nearly an hour. Terrified residents stayed indoors, fearing for their lives.

One resident shared, “The noise was traumatic. We were too afraid to step outside and investigate.” Concerns have also been raised about the safety of petrol stations as criminal activity escalates.

This incident follows a pattern of increasing ATM bombings, including a similar attack at a petrol station in Sekgosese and Mokgwathi in Bolobedu, on Sunday morning.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the Lwamondo incident. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Police are appealing to the community for assistance. Anyone with information that could lead to the suspects’ arrest is urged to contact authorities.
