Another Hitchhiker Robbed in Tzaneen

TZANEEN-A male hitchhiker was robbed on Saturday, December 11, when he was hitchhiking from Tzaneen to Georges valley.

According to the police, the man accepted a lift from a white VW Polo near the Caltex Garage hiking spot in Tzaneen Town.

Along the way, before they could reach George’s valley the driver picked up two more passengers.

The driver then received a phone call and deviated from the main route taking the gravel road stating that he is going to pick up his wife.

The driver then pointed the victim with a firearm whilst the other pointed him with a knife and they all demanded money from the victim and they took R70(seventy rands only) from him.

They also took his bank card and demanded the pin numbers.

They left him in the bushes then went on to withdraw R2500-00(two thousand five hundred rands) from his account before he could reach the bank to block transactions.

The suspects are three African males driving on a White VW Polo vehicle and are still at large.

Tzaneen SAPS are investigating a case of armed robbery and appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Detective Lt Col Ngwenya @08246990931 /0153062111 /112/10111
