JOHANNESBURG-One person has died and another one was confirmed injured in Braamfischerville following an explosion this afternoon.

This was confirmed by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi during a media briefing as he was updating the province on the latest developments following the gas explosion at the Joburg CBD on Wednesday afternoon.

“Upon deep investigations by the police, we have established that it was a private house and the explosion emanated from a heater, I’m not sure if is a gas heater,” said Premier Lesufi.

“We have already sent our condolences to the family, and we’ve asked the team to check the state of the person that was injured and we’ve wished the person a speedy recovery,” said Lesufi.

Lesufi said he wanted to clarify this story before it clouds their update on what has transpired in the Joburg CBD on Wednesday afternoon where there was a gas explosion along Bree Street that left one person dead and 48 injured.
