BOTLOKWA – In a gesture of solidarity and support, the ANC Limpopo, led by Provincial Chairperson of the ANCYL Cde Tonny Rachoene, has donated a cow to the family of the late Modjadji Niccol Thoka. This donation is intended to assist with funeral preparations for the 18-year-old, who was brutally murdered earlier this year.

The tragic case of Modjadji Thoka has gripped the community. After four months of agonizing wait and a harrowing discovery, her family is finally preparing to lay her to rest this weekend. Thoka, a Grade 11 learner, was last seen alive on the evening of January 5th when she went to a nearby spaza shop to buy airtime.

Her mutilated body was found three days later in an abandoned RDP house, with several body parts missing.

Her mother, Ntseta Thoka, had been resolute in her decision not to bury her daughter until all her body parts were recovered.

On January 17th, the police made a significant breakthrough by arresting a 30-year-old sangoma from the area, who subsequently led them to the missing body parts, including Thoka’s head.

The sangoma has since appeared in court and faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, murder, and defeating the ends of justice.

In light of this tragedy, the ANC’s gesture aims to provide some comfort to the grieving family. The donation of a cow is a traditional gesture of support, meant to assist with the considerable costs associated with the funeral.

“We are here to support the Thoka family in this difficult time. This contribution is a symbol of our solidarity and an acknowledgment of the pain they have endured,” said Cde Rachoene.

The funeral service for Modjadji Thoka will be held at Mokopu Cemetery in Mokomene village, Botlokwa, on Saturday, May 25th.

The community is expected to gather in large numbers to pay their final respects to the young woman whose life was tragically cut short.
